Year of the Horse Auckland Libraries

Lunar New Year is celebrated in China, Korea and Southeast Asia, and is a festival of peace and renewal.

Lunar New Year festivities traditionally start on the darkest day of January (the first day of the lunar month) and continue until the 15th day, when the moon is brightest. The Chinese year 4712 begins on January 31, 2014.

The Lunar New Year is a time to reconcile, forget all grudges and sincerely wish for peace and happiness for everyone. Auckland Libraries aims to improve cultural understanding and awareness at this time with a series of fun, interesting and community-focused events for all ages.
