Lantern Festival, Auckland
The festival – now in its 15th year – was held at Albert Park and Queens Wharf on the first full moon following Chinese New Year. It is organised by ATEED in partnership with Asia New Zealand Foundation
The Auckland Lantern Festival was celebrated in Auckland from Feb 13 - , starting with a lantern-only night and closed with a spectacular fireworks finale from the Sky Tower on Sunday 16 February.
Eight hundred incredible hand-crafted lanterns illuminated the night skies at Albert Park – allowing festival goers to enjoy the magical spectacle in all its glory,The full festival kicked off on Friday 14th Feb and ran on through to 16th Feb. There various family-focused activities at Queens Wharf and main stage cultural performances and over 100 food and craft stalls at Albert Park .
The Auckland Lantern Festival closed on Sunday night at 10.30pm after the Tang Dynasty concert with a spectacular fireworks display – a fitting finale to the festival and the Chinese New Year celebrations.
