Dragon dance is a popular folk dance in Pudong area. Sanlin Dragon Dance originated from the pageant group in the temple fairs in Tang and Song dynasty, and was most popular in Qing dynasty when there was definitely a "dragon" in each temple fair. In recent years, there have been new developments of Pudong's Dragon dance, especially now that the dragon dance in Sanlin town in Pudong has become world famous. Sanlin Dragon Dance Team represented Shanghai to participate in various performances and competitions held in China and even in foreign countries.
