Free Chinese Calligraphy Class in Botany Library
2-3pm, Sunday 21 February 2010, Botany Library.
Chinese calligraphy is the essence of Chinese art, which is highly valued in China. This workshop aims to teach the unique, exotic art form to people who have no/little knowledge/experience of Chinese calligraphy and would eventually have a comprehensive sense of the art world. The workshop will focus on the basic style of Chinese calligraphy—Li shu (隶书) originating from Han dynasty. People will get experience of holding brush and applying black ink to rice paper and finally be able to create their own calligraphy work.
