The Auckland Lantern Festival is a robust and bustling three-day event held towards the end of Chinese New Year at Albert Park every year. Bright and beautiful lanterns light up the park for three nights each year and never fail to excite all those who attend.

Over the years, huge crowds come not only to view and photograph the spectacular lanterns, but to delve into Chinese cuisine and experience some of the most exciting performances Auckland has to offer.

In 2009, the unforgettable monks from Shaolin wowed us with eye-popping kung fu moves that one would literally see only in the movies. If you can handle the February humidity, come along to this year's festival and come prepared with mosquito propellents. It's well worth it.
