CHINESE SHOPS BURGLED.
While the tenants were away from the premises on Sunday, three Chinese shops in Victoria and Hobson Streets were entered and ransacked. A fruiterer in Victoria Street named Chun Kee returned to his shop about nine o'clock last night, to find that the front door had been forced, and about £4 had been taken from his cash drawer. The burglar, while in here, had broken a hack window of the adjoining premises of Sun Lee, a Chinese launderer but nothing was got in these premises. A forced entrance was also made of Son Lee's laundry in Hobson Street, but the haul there consisted only of some small change. Auckland Star, Volume LIV, Issue 211, 4 September 1923, Page 7
